La Piana, founder & president of NIAC and the efforts behind the passage of the WarTime Violation of Italian American Civil Liberties Act - HR 2442. It was Anthony E. La Piana, founder & president of NIAC who successfully lobbied to get both the U.S. Congress and Senate to support legislation HR 2442. And, it was primarily the NATIONAL ITALIAN AMERICAN COUNCIL ( NIAC ) who acted as the lead organization behind a national grass roots movement to raise the level of awareness across the country circulating a national signature petition gathering thousands of signatures from all over the USA in support of this significant and historical piece of legislation.
